Oliver, British Columbia, June 20, 2024 – Phantom Creek Estate Winery proudly announces its outstanding achievement at the prestigious Decanter Wine Awards, where it has been honored with a total of 10 medals. Phantom Creek Vineyard Cuvée 2020 has received the esteemed Gold Award with 95 points.
About the Decanter World Wine Awards
The Decanter World Wine Awards is a prestigious competition that sets the standard for excellence in winemaking. Founded by Decanter magazine, a trusted authority in the world of wine, these awards highlight the best wines from across the globe, showcasing diversity, quality, and innovation.
The judging process is rigorous and meticulous, involving over 250 wine experts including Masters of Wine, sommeliers, and experienced critics. Wines are blind-tasted and evaluated based on their region, grape variety, style, and vintage, ensuring a fair assessment that focuses purely on the quality of the wine in the glass. This year, more than 18,000 wines were submitted from 57 countries.
The winning wines
Phantom Creek Vineyard Cuvée 2020 is the sole Okanagan red wine to win a gold medal in the competition. The wine received 95 points. The Jury described the wine as: “Finely meshed dark cassis, black olive and garrigue with a dollop of plush oak which drives the immersive tannins. Plush and generous with a long, graphite finish.”
